CITYDRIVE  is one of our favourite times of the iSE calendar – a whole week of events showcasing Birmingham’s thriving social enterprise sector. Find out more about how you can be part of it. Get involved with your Social Enterprise City!

CITYDRIVE 2019 is a a week-long celebration of social enterprise in Birmingham, built around five calls to action: start, work with, volunteer for, invest in and buy from social enterprise.

This year we have an action-packed programme featuring canal boats, arts and heritage trails, music walks,  marketplaces, networks, a social enterprise conference, micro-fund ‘porridge’ and even a wedding fair.

On Monday 8th April we kick off proceedings with the social enterprise conference to shake up how we approach social entrepreneurship, with leading global enterprise speakers from make-a-difference brands including Madlug and Belu Water. Then join us for an after-work social at Digbeth’s Evolve where you can expect honest discussion and frank insights on life as a social entrepreneur.

On Tuesday morning we delve into micro-funding with the chance to pitch for a £500 pot at the Digbeth ‘Porridge’ and in the afternoon we join forces with PwC for a high-value networking event focusing on engaging with corporates.

Wednesday sees us connecting with communities and exploring hidden parts of the city with the Heart of Birmingham Alternative Tour, enabling new possibilities for mutual understanding. Discover the lesser known histories of Birmingham’s vibrant music scene on the music archives walk, and in the evening cruise Birmingham’s waterways with Boatel as we explore canals as a valuable community asset.

Other highlights of the week include a breakfast hosted by Big Society Capital exploring investment for place; a living history tour of Handsworth telling stories of protest, industry, nature and progress, a workshop on culture and mental health in the workplace and a micro-fund for organisations operating in West Birmingham and Smethwick.

On Friday it’s our flagship Social Enterprise Festival, a buzzing marketplace where everyone involved or interested in social enterprise is invited to celebrate Birmingham as a Social Enterprise City.

CITYDRIVE 2019 will be closing on Saturday 13th April with Birmingham’s first (we think!) Ethical Wedding Fair - a chance for social enterprises to connect with new audiences and for the public to consider alternative, ethical and social enterprise suppliers for weddings with a conscience.

You can book onto individual events here or through the programme.

We look forward to seeing you at CITYDRIVE 2019!
