iSE | Chechen Republic Research Fellow visits iSE

Our Director of Business Simon Veasey met with  John Smith Trust Fellow Khava Laskaeva from the Chechen Republic who visited iSE as part of a UK social enterprise fact-finding visit.

Khava works for a social enterprise development organisation in Grozny that promotes entrepreneurship by providing targeted support to small and medium-sized businesses in order to achieve a sustainable socio-economic effect.

Khava, a John Smith Trust Fellow, was using her time in the UK to discover more about the experience of developing social entrepreneurship in particular raising public awareness of the idea of social entrepreneurship, supporting social entrepreneurship and financing social enterprises.

We were very happy to welcome Khava to Birmingham the Social Enterprise City to share our experiences of providing infrastructure support and raising awareness of social enterprise as analternative way of doing business through initiatives such as CITYDRIVE.

Khava said; “It was useful for me to find out how to support social enterprises and the activities that are being carried out.  I was also interested to know how iSE functions as a social enterprise.”

We hope you enjoyed your day with us, Khava!
