Growing Things in Digbeth

Hello green fingers…

Continuing our efforts to support our local area of Digbeth, some of the iSE team are getting involved in the development of a new project, through becoming founder members of Edible Eastside.

Recent months have seen a derelict space on Fazeley Street transformed into a vibrant and contemporary canal-side urban garden.

The area has been converted into a ‘pop-up’ edible park, using temporary containers and raised beds. The next few months will see us getting our hands dirty planting vegetables in our iSE patch, gardening and as part of our founder member responsibility, assisting with the programme of events that will be held there over the summer.

A BBQ and garden party which formed part of the Fierce Festival programme saw the successful (and extremely sunny) launch of Edible Eastside to the public on Sunday 1st April. The garden is now open to all every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12-5pm.

Although we’re not expecting to feed the thousands with our produce, we are hoping that some tasty vegetables will be on the menu this summer!
