Sarah Crawley

Sarah is the CEO of iSE and a joint founder of the social enterprise which began trading in 1999.

Sarah’s role is broad and varied and she combines the management of the organisation with consultancy work, local, regional and national strategic work and directorships of a number of social enterprises.

Sarah has been supporting the broader third sector for over 25 years through the management and delivery of a number of very large capacity building programmes and direct work with individual organisations. Her work with social enterprises began in 1991 and since then she has delivered direct support to grow the social enterprise sector across the West Midlands and beyond.

Sarah led in establishing Digbeth as one of the first recognised social enterprise places in 2013, and one of the few people to gain a second accreditation with Birmingham in 2018. Appointed to the WiSE 100 inaugural list of 2017 and a returning speaker for the Social Enterprise World Forum, she was made an Honorary Fellow of SEUK in 2019. Sarah also sits on the West Midlands Combined Authority Social Economy Taskforce, is a Visiting Fellow at Aston University and sits on the UK Government VCSE Advisory Panel led by Claire Dove OBE.

Sarah’s experience includes working with the third, private and public sectors strategically to create a positive environment for social enterprises. Work on special initiatives that target specific issues within the sector such as: access to markets, access to specific and relevant business support and commissioning and procurement.
